Stars React to Big Moves
The use of social media in sports is very active especially when it comes to fans interacting with a brand or organization. This is largely seen in large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles. Consumers are able to speak their minds on all aspects of the organization and talk about their preferences and dislikes about an organization. This is prevalent when it comes to consumers who are stars themselves. Stars naturally have vices that will be heard but social media allows them to have their thoughts to be able to be heard at a moments notice. This article shows how the rapper Ice Cube was able to share how he was not happy about the trade between the Lakers and the Cavaliers. This piqued my interest because it illustrates how social media creates a platform where stars as well as average fans can put in their opinions and talk about how they feel about where an organization is going. They can show if a trade or any aspect of an organization is something they like or something they hate and are not afraid to say it because of the ambiguity of social media and the scope which their messages can reach. This article shows the importance of social media in the sports industry especially in Los Angeles. Los Angeles is one of the largest metropolitan area meaning that there are a lot of fans, some are high profile people who can reach an even larger audience and increase the scope of a team and the message of the fans will be heard. This article thus shows how social media is a large part of the sports industry especially in large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles which has many high profile fans who have a platform where they can be free and voice all their opinions as well as reach a large audience.
